After may years in Petaluma, SFA has reluctantly closed its doors for the last time. We would like to thank Maestro Pacheco and all of our fencers throughout the years for helping to promote the sport of fencing throughout the SF bay area. We wish you all the best of luck in fencing and in life!
A couple weeks ago, during one of our summer fencing classes, Captain Eric created a tournaments 101 document as part of a presentation designed to help answer questions about competitive fencing tournaments. This HowTo guide is targeted for intermediate fencers and parents interested in attending local tournaments. Download your copy of the SFA Tournament Basics Guide and let us know if you have questions.
Four of our SFA students and coach Mike competed in the Napa Valley Crush Tournament this past Oct. 20th. It was a terrific tournament for everyone. Congrats to everyone that attended and competed! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for some pictures.
The Napa Valley Crush Tournament is on Oct. 20th in Yountville. This is a great tournament for electric fencers age 7-12. There’s also a veteran’s tournament for 13 and up. In 2010 SFA took first and thrid place (there’s some pictures on our Facebook timeline).
You’ve probably noticed our upcoming events box on the right side info box, but we’ve also added a calendar with specific class times to the web site. Click on the Calendars tab in the menu bar to see the Class Calendar as well as the full Events Calendar.
At SFA we’re eagerly preparing for the 2012-2013 season, our 15th year! The new season will start on Aug. 20th @ 6pm-8pm @ Hermann Sons Hall. For the first week, we will run a combined all levels class similar to the summer schedule, then plan on spinning off the beginning children into a separate class shortly thereafter.
This past month SFA underwent a corporate restructuring designed to directly benefit students and those that support them. We’ve updated the SFA website, created a Facebook page, and enabled a Twitter account in order to better engage with you. On the new SFA website ( http://sonomafencing.com ), you’ll find details about the different class levels, information on the club, and our online schedule of events. The Facebook page allows SFA members to interact and share pictures in an open forum. Our Twitter account is used to share real-time tournament results and fencing related news. We look forward to growing the club over the next season by introducing fencing to more beginners, starting an open fencing program, improving our communications, and for those interested, eventually building a competitive team.
If you have any questions, please contact us by email: email@example.com or phone: (707) 780-6880. Along with Maestro Pacheco, Eric Bermender will be on-site on Aug. 20th to answer questions you may have about the restructuring and help complete paperwork for the new season.
We sincerely look forward to seeing you and appreciate your support!
