The 3rd Annual Kendall-Jackson International Fencing Tournament, October 2nd, 2004

"Raising awareness of Sonoma County wine, food, and the art of fencing."

This highly anticipated event, now in its third year, features an exciting tournament with Olympic medalists and World Cup Champions vying for first place and a grand prize of $1500.

This year we have planned a very high-level men's foil tournament. We are anticipating competitors at the highest ranks in fencing, from all around the world, and have generous prizes for the top three fencers in the event. The tournament concludes with a Grand Finale fence-off at the beautiful Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates. The winner of the tournament will receive $1500 in prizes. Second place will receive $1000 in prizes, and the third place competitor will walk away with $500 in prizes. There will be no tie for 3rd place. The top eight fencers will be awarded with elite wines from our sponsor, Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates. This year, our Sonoma Academy scholarship fund-raising dinner will be prepared by celebrity chef Randy Lewis.

In the first year of the tournament, Luxembourg National Champion Cedric Anen took first place. The second year saw German National Team member and 2000 Olympic finalist Richard Bruetner sweep into victory. This year, with so many high level fencers flying in from around the world to participate, we are expecting a truly extraordinary competition.
